INTRODUCTION

The current proposals will provide improved boat maintenance and support facilities within a protected area of reclaimed land in Sandy Cove.

The site will maximise linkages between Newlyn Harbour and Penlee Quarry by providing facilities which serve the fishing and leisure marine industries. Sandy Cove will also provide leisure and recreational facilities for residents
and visitors, together with additional car parking for Newlyn during the summer.

Main elements

• Boat Yard, offices and reception
• Boat hoist, slipway and drying out slip (careening grid)
• New engineering workshops
• Over-winter storage for leisure and fishing boats
• Water sports centre and public slipway
• Additional car parking spaces (temporary summer + permanent winter)
• Possible fish hatchery / visitor centre / research centre
